Plot
Molly a movie actress planned to spend thanksgiving with her best friend Abby and keep things low-key. Molly is going through a divorce and Abby who came out as a lesbian at 29 years old is going through the grieving process of her girlfriend breaking up with her.
What was low-key turned into a big party after Molly invited her fling boyfriend Jeff. On top of that Molly invited Lauren who has a husband and children. Lauren invited a few single lesbians as well so that maybe Abby could end up bonding with one of them.
Molly’s mother Helen also arrived unannounced from Sweden to stay with her. Without Molly knowing Helen had invited Gunner who was a former boyfriend of Molly that kept in touch with Helen through Facebook.
Other interesting guests had arrived as well. For example, Claire is a recently certified Shaman, Rick and his new wife who can’t talk because of her insane amounts of Botox, and Gus a gay man who’s brother has been missing for 7 years.
My Opinion
“Friendsgiving” is not a movie that kids should watch because of the sexually suggestive content. Personally, I think watching this is not worth your time. Though it had some funny moments they just did not do it for me. The movie was not enjoyable because of the amount of vulgar language and people executing bad behavior.
The plot was also very hard to relate to due to the lack of a story arc. This movie is also labeled as a Thanksgiving movie but it’s just not realistic at all.
Though this film was not up to par with other thanksgiving films I do believe the acting was really top tier. The actors and actresses worked so well together especially Molly and Abby. I think they were the most realistic characters in the film. I wish we could have seen more vulnerable moments with them two together.
The first 10 minutes seemed like it would be a good movie, then it just went downhill. I kept watching, waiting for comedic moments from a “chaotic night of illicit activity and comprising situations” as described by Netflix. However, with 10 minutes left of the movie I had given up.
Overall, I would not encourage you to watch this disastrous film like I did. I’ll save you some time because the funniest part of this film is the end credits where they showed the bloopers. With such talented actors it was a really big letdown and looked like an Amazon movie. This was obviously an issue of too many things going on at once with no main goal of the movie.
